Sorry about the lack of posts... what can I say? That I'm busy, its not enough hours, I've been tired, just lazy? It would have been easier to write norwegian?
The importance of colour: Choices to make, all the difficult decisions about what colour to use, the amount and which area to colour? And the choices applies also to my quilting experiences... the choice of fabrics, textures and threads.

With a little twist in Corel; a pink Pine & Snow photo. Maybe useful as a pattern or just plain color inspiration? I like the colors and the sharp edges of the pine needles.

Look! Japanese fabrics... I'm so excited! I'm starting a new japanese fabrics club in March, in the webshop Northern Quilts. The fabrics are soft, tightly wowen and really really wonderful.

This is just a part of the moonlight cat quilt wallhanging, I'll show you all of it when I've written the whole pattern. I've got customers in my quilt shop waiting for this... but I'm just human... and I need some time for writing & printing. But the nice photo for the pattern cover is still missing,- perhaps I'll have to buy some professional lighting? or maybe I'll have to take the quilt outdoors, in the blueish and weak january daylight. Hmm.

Dogs and one Cow

Hi! I'm busy... trying to figure out what to do with the postcard-swap hosted by My little Mochi! It's going to be something with a dog on the front side, as a tribute to the year of the Dog, 2006. All I know is that I'm going to make it a quilted postcard (never tried it before...!) and I have this faboulous yellow dog print fabric designed by Nancy Wolff.

This is my small wall quilt "Crazy Happy Cow", made in 2003. It's possible the pattern is still downloadable from my webshop, I'm really not sure. It's paperpieced/appliqued/handquilted.

Our new painting in the hallway: A section of the painting "Lykkeligst som liten" ("Happiest when you're small" or something like that...) (I can't remember the artists name right now, sorry.) Wonderful colors and light... it keeps us happy!

New year and new projects: First; a flannel quilt with cars on blue and small cats framed by the color red; simple & fun. "ZebraStreifen" will make the finish.
Next: A cat & cherry flannel quilt i brown and blacks. Its winterly cold outside, and its time to really snuggle under a quilt!

Here they are, in the snow. It's 11 degrees below zero... I was freezing my a.. off taking lots of pictures. I'm NOT enjoying november & december,- it's so dark... just 5 hours of daylight (mostly cloudy!) now. But the sun "turns" on dec 22!

This came to to me today; the most wonderful letterpressed card! Thanks Mav! I'ts very nice, and it makes me want to learn letterpressing... I've located an old letterpress in our city's local newspaper house, standing in their lobby.

I'm sewing small angels, for the next "Northern Quilts design club". I design the quilt pattern, coordinated with a nice palette of quilt fabrics. The receivers don't know what they're getting, but I like to give them a small peak ;-). I'm very happy with this design, because its easy and could easily decorate a christmas, new year or even a valentines table! What you see is just half-finished... I'm going to add some more details and free motion machine quilting. Love my Janome 6500...

Lights in the windows, it's dark outside,- but the thick layer of snow gives a soft glow to the trees in the garden. How lucky we are, to have this beautiful winter weather! It's about -2C, and we're expecting more snow to come. Clean, fresh white fluffy snow... but wet enough to build snowmans & snowhorses, snowballs & snowcandles. I'll show you tomorrow :-)

We had to replace our advent calendar this year,- our "usual" (made-by-me-11-years-ago-calendar with my first attempts of applique, for my daughter and children to come) is LOST or Hidden in space... uhu... but I hope it returns someday.... hopefully in time for next year.

Look what I found at the museum shop; an old tile with a star pattern, almost like it could have been appliqued. Nice colors too, and I think I'll adapt the pattern for a small quilt,- maybe a small kitchen tablerunner or something.

Here they are... lots of small quilted Santa with bells. They're on display in my local quilt group's christmas quilt show, and yes; for sale. I'm writing the pattern now, for those who doesn't/ can't/ won't buy one. The Santas came out a bit big I think, but it's possible to reduce the pattern pieces... but then the spiral part on top would be more fiddly to sew than it already is.

Making "Julenisser"

My small Santas ("nisse" in Norwegian) are getting ready for the christmas days. I'm sewing them of ordinary cotton fabric, using silver metallic thread to embellish the beard. Today I'm going to stuff them, and voila; they will be ready for show! I'll make a pattern to sell in the quilt shop, but it will probably be too late for this christmas sales, but christmas is coming again and again and again...

Todays evening work; making some scarves from red and pink brocade (poly...) and orange/rust fake fur. They just need some "quilting" or something to hold them nice & firmly together,- maybe some small pearls or buttons? Who knows?
